Canova’s Temple and Gipsoteca
To mark 200 years since the passing of the renowned architect and sculptor Antonio Canova, a visit to his hometown of Possagno is essential. Here, you’ll find his magnificent neoclassical temple. Villa Barbaro
Villa Barbaro in Maser is a stunning country residence, built in the 16th century by Andrea Palladio for the humanist Daniele Barbaro and his brother Marcantonio Barbaro, ambassador of the Republic of Venice. It was designed to suit the study of the arts and intellectual contemplation. Inside, it is adorned with a series of frescoes, one of the masterpieces of painter Paolo Veronese, and since 1996, it has been recognized as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Don’t miss a visit to the nearby 19th-century winery, which still produces excellent wines, including traditional varieties such as Merlot, Cabernet, Chardonnay, Prosecco, Manzoni Bianco, and Verduzzo. In the winery shop, you can purchase elegant wines that reflect the character of the region.
Villa Emo
Located in Fanzolo, the majesty of this Palladian villa lies not only in its grand yet understated central structure but also in the long arcades that seem to envelop and embrace it.
Open to visitors, the villa’s interior is beautifully decorated with frescoes depicting rural themes. At the entrance, you’ll find a bookshop, a small exhibition about the local area, and a captivating film that illustrates the villa’s history and the significance of its extraordinary frescoes.
Brion Tomb
The monumental Brion tomb complex in San Vito di Altivole was commissioned from architect-designer Carlo Scarpa by the widow of Giuseppe Brion, founder of Brionvega, an iconic brand of Italian design from the 1960s and 70s. Built with exposed reinforced concrete and adorned with inlays and colorful Murano glass mosaics, surrounded by zen-inspired water basins and channels, this architectural complex is an absolute masterpiece of modernism, Venetian art, and Eastern philosophies, all inspired by the theme of eternal love.
Museum of Printing and Typographic Design
Located in Crocetta del Montello, the Tipoteca and Museum of Printing and Typographic Design is set within the former Antonini-Ceresa hemp factory and the historic headquarters of Grafiche Antiga, the foundation responsible for bringing this remarkable project to life. Spanning 3,000 square meters, the museum is dedicated to the origins and evolution of movable type printing, from Gutenberg to the 1970s. The highlight of the collection includes walls of lead and wood type archives, along with antique machinery and historical prints.
